As a result of over a century and a half of these Morton Bay Figs, heritage listed and situated basically on top of the Sydney Sandstone front fence, the owner contacted us over 20 years ago to rectify… and after all that weather , combined with the invasive nature of the fig trees roots, the wall looks intact and in very good shape.
Heritage listed Morton Bay Figs caused the owner to repair. 20 years on, it still looks great!
With the approach of removing the large sandstone units, then with the thorough removal of the trees’ large roots, we reinstated the units in their respective place and repointed with our lime based mortar.
20 years of weather and the lime based mortar ribbon pointing looks great.

With it being one of the most widely used building materials, used in the vast majority of homes up until the mid 80’s, every Australian should be able to identity Asbestos.
The sub-floor region is a known dumping ground for Grey-Brown asbestos known as amosite. It is one of the worst types, causing more cancer than any other type.
In fact, asbestos was that widely used, it is contained in a litany of products including, corrugated roofing, roof tiles, plasterboard, weatherboard, concrete and tiles. Used to its high tensile strength, asbestos was used in Australia (per capita) more than any other country.
The next time you are under your house, in the roof cavity or even digging in your garden, be on the look out for the notorious green/grey/brown colouration or any product known to house asbestos prior to its cessation in 1985 (Australia).
If unsure, feel free to contact us or an asbestos removal expert for assessment.
